🚗 Main Squeeze: Tesla Dealership Coming to Port St. Lucie
The timeline: Four years ago, Port St. Lucie tried pitching Tesla to move its headquarters to Florida (spoiler: that didn't happen). Now, the city seems to be aiming at getting a Tesla dealership anyway.
What's happening Monday: Port St. Lucie City Council will vote on a major site plan for a 35,325-square-foot Tesla dealership with sales, showroom, and maintenance bays. It's on the consent agenda (item 7.k), meaning it's considered routine and expected to pass without debate unless a council member pulls it for discussion.
Where: Southeast corner of SW Becker Road and SW Anthony F. Sansone Sr. Boulevard in the Tradition area (Southern Grove development).

96 parking spaces (86 required)
27-foot-tall building (100 feet allowed)
Property owner: Mattamy Palm Beach LLC
Located in the America Walks-Becker Road Master Planned Unit Development
The catch: Access depends on completing the extension of SW Anthony F. Sansone Sr. Boulevard south of Becker Road. Right now, that intersection only allows left turns from the boulevard onto Becker or right turns. A four-way signal is planned but not yet installed.
The path here: The Site Plan Review Committee already recommended approval in May 2025. Being placed on the consent agenda signals staff and council expect smooth sailing.

Vero Beach High School's football team defeated Miami Palmetto 45-44 in a double-overtime thriller to advance to the state championship game. The Fighting Indians will play for the 7A title in Miami after pulling off the dramatic semifinal victory that extended their historic season.

💼 St. Lucie EDC Getting New Leadership
Pete Tesch is stepping down after 12 years as president of the Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County, with Wes McCurry becoming president and CEO and Rachel Savela promoted to chief operating officer effective Jan. 1. Under Tesch's leadership, the county added 24,267 jobs, saw property values triple from $23.8 billion to $74.4 billion, and attracted $1.87 billion in capital investment.

🎵 Stuart Amphitheater Opening This Spring
Stuart's new outdoor amphitheater at Memorial Park is on schedule to open in March or April with a covered stage and lawn seating for 2,500 people. The $2.7 million Phase 4 improvement includes a green room, plaza area, walkways, and infrastructure upgrades, funded by $1.1 million from the Community Redevelopment Agency and the rest from American Rescue Plan Act grants.
