🟠 Main Squeeze: I sat down with the new Executive Director of the Sunrise Theatre and here is what he had to say

Numa Saisselin started work at the Sunrise Theatre on July 20th. This is his third week on the job. He grew up on the north shore of Long Island, spent 13 years running the Florida Theatre in Jacksonville and took this role because he wanted to be back inside a historic theatre 🎭.

What is changing:

  • 🎟️ Ticketing is now through Ticketmaster. If you want to avoid fees, walk up to the box office on Second Street and buy in person

  • 📅 The Sunrise is moving toward a 12 month calendar, no more going dark in summer

  • 🎪 A Halloween haunted house is coming to the Black Box Theatre the last week of October

  • 📣 The new season was announced August 10th. Get on the email list at sunrisetheatre.com because new shows will drop every Monday

On programming: "Great programming, marketed aggressively, and delivered with great customer service. If you treat the artists well, they'll come back. If the audience comes and sees something they like, they'll come back."

On what Fort Pierce can expect: More of the caliber of Ali Siddiq. A more diverse calendar. Programming that serves all corners of the community from the island to the west side.

On the Black Box Theatre: More jazz, more comedy, modern dance up close and a Halloween haunted house to start an annual tradition 👀.

On being part of the community: "We are a business in the downtown economy. We are not here just to ask for help. We are here to provide help."
