Good Morning, Sunland

It's Monday! and I'm back, and it feels so good to be writing this newsletter with not so much on my plate, LOL. As many of you know, I was helping with this year's City of Fort Pierce Juneteenth event. While it was a tremendous amount of work and I was spread pretty thin doing a million different things, it also was so, so worth it. Over a hundred people came up to me just on Friday. Everybody we door knocked and spoke to came out to the event. It was so incredible. I'm gonna link to a gallery of images that we posted, but I just can't thank y'all enough for supporting the event, coming out, having a good time, having fun! Just thank you!

💜 People Pass Shoutout: Thank you to everyone supporting the newsletter! If you want to help keep this going, support here.

Urban Tapas in downtown Fort Pierce is worth the trip

first walked past Urban Tapas a couple months ago when they had just opened. A bartender invited us in, walked us around and the place looked elegant and well put together. I went back this past weekend with Jalyne and I'm glad I did 🍽️.

The concept is small plates meant for sharing and it works really well. Here is what we got:

🥚 The Cajun chicken egg rolls were the standout of the night. Cajun chicken, black beans, yellow rice, roasted corn and pimento cheese packed into a roll with a crunch that just hit right. I don't usually go for breaded stuff but I genuinely could not stop eating these. Best thing we ordered.

🥩 The lamb chops came with couscous, tabbouleh and a coconut curry sauce that took a minute to grow on me but ended up working. Meat was slightly chewy but the flavors were there once everything settled in.

🫓 The hummus with pita was tangy on first bite in a way I couldn't quite describe but it settled into something really good.

🌽 The grilled Mexican street corn was really good and very well seasoned. One side was slightly more charred than I would have liked but as soon as you bite in you get all the flavor at once. I can work with that.

Price wise it is not a cheap night out (We spent $80 tip included in that price) but it is reasonable. Order one plate each and you are probably walking out around $20 to $25 per person. The ambiance is elegant without being stuffy. Great date night spot. Not a dress up place exactly but the vibe will make me wish I had put in a little more effort into my fit choice. 😅.

8.75 out of 10. Will be back.
