🌊🏗 Another Major Development on the Horizon for Fort Pierce

Yet another building project may be making its way to Fort Pierce in the near future. You might be thinking of our recently covered King's Landing—a transformative project in downtown Fort Pierce that's signaling the city's rapid growth. But no, Fort Pierce may soon welcome a significant new addition to its waterfront: the "Boardwalk on the Inlet." Proposed by local car dealer and real estate investor Sandy Woods, this massive development would be situated between the Square Grouper Tiki Bar and Manatee Island Bar and Grill, bringing hundreds of hotel rooms, condos, more than a dozen restaurants, shops, and a large event center to the area. The centerpiece of the event complex would be a 7,000-square-foot ballroom, making it one of the largest in the region.

The project aims to create between 400-500 construction jobs and 300-400 permanent positions once completed, boosting the local economy and potentially paving the way for even more development, such as a Brightline train station. Woods and his team believe that this development could be a game-changer for Fort Pierce, positioning the city as a premier destination for both locals and tourists.

But with all this construction on the horizon, we want to hear from you: Would this new project be a benefit to Fort Pierce, or should the city slow down on the building boom? Respond to this email, and let us know!

🚄🚉 Okay, Let’s Talk Brightline

It seems like Brightline is making quite the splash here on the Treasure Coast. Just this week, a Brightline train struck a disabled car, a black Chevrolet Cruze, on railroad tracks near Torpey Road and North Old Dixie Highway in St. Lucie County. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. This incident serves as a reminder to always be cautious around train tracks—especially with Brightline’s high-speed trains.

Meanwhile, Stuart, our neighbor to the south, is getting closer to bringing a Brightline station to their city. The City Commission just approved a land lease ($1 a year for 40 years, with an option for an additional 40 years—what a deal! 😂) with Brightline for a new station on Southeast Flagler Avenue. This could be a big win for Stuart, connecting them directly to Miami and Orlando. Construction is expected to kick off in the spring, with the station opening as early as 2027.

It’s clear that Brightline is set to be around for a while, so let’s be cautious of the train tracks, and Sunland News is here to keep you updated with all the developments along the way.
