Good Morning Saint Lucie! Good Morning Sunland!

Another beautiful day! There’s a slight chance of no rain today. I know it’s good for the plants, I hear you, but I could personally use a break from the humidity.

I’ll take whatever we get though 😂. Let's get to the news.

🌐 Back to the Drawing Board for Ryan Homes’ Development on Angle Road

If you’ve been following the buzz around the proposed 114-acre residential development off Angle Road, you’ll know there’s been quite a bit of back-and-forth between the county, the developers, and local residents. On August 6, the St. Lucie County Commission decided that this project needs more work before it can move forward.

Ryan Homes proposed a mix of 219 single-family homes and 339 townhomes, but the Commission hit pause, citing concerns about traffic impact, road access, and overall density. The project would generate around 4,700 daily trips, putting a strain on nearby intersections—especially at Kings Highway and Angle Road, which already has issues.

Residents from Old FFA Road, whose properties border the proposed development, voiced concerns about increased traffic and the potential changes to their quiet neighborhood. Their worries weren’t taken lightly. Commissioner Chris Dzadovsky highlighted the problem of having only one primary access point to the development, something that could lead to congestion and safety issues.

The project was sent back for a 60-day review, allowing the developer time to address these concerns. While the idea of bringing more affordable housing to the area is appealing, it’s clear that the balance between growth and preserving the community’s character needs some fine-tuning. Stay tuned as we keep an eye on how this development unfolds.
