Should PSL Get a Costco?
Stuart finally got its Costco fix — and based on the thousand-plus people who lined up on opening day, it’s safe to say the craving was real. But just 11 miles up the road, in Tradition, folks in Port St. Lucie are asking: when’s our turn?
📦 The Backstory Costco just opened a massive 1.8 million square foot distribution center in Tradition. This isn’t a retail store — it’s a logistics hub that will serve all 32 Costco locations in Florida. It’s ahead of schedule, fully solar-powered, and expected to bring new jobs with benefits and above-average wages.
Still, the buzz is building about whether a retail store could follow. As one neighbor told WPTV, “They got all this acreage... why not utilize it for the people that want it?”
🏙️ What the City Says According to a statement from Port St. Lucie officials:
“We welcome the opportunity for a Costco retail store to come to the city of Port St. Lucie in the future. We know having a store in Port St. Lucie has been high on our residents’ list of wants for a number of years.”
With the area’s rapid population growth and the new distribution facility already in place, some say it’s only a matter of time.

⚾ Jackie Robinson Game Raises $30K for United Way
Over 4,300 people packed Holman Stadium for the annual Jackie Robinson Celebration Game in Vero Beach, raising more than $30,000 for United Way of Indian River County. The event honored Robinson’s legacy while supporting local programs in health, education, and financial stability.
🔥 33 Residents Displaced by Fort Pierce Apartment Fire
A late-night fire at a 12-unit complex on E. Weatherbee Road left 33 people without homes. Several families, including young children, escaped with only the clothes on their backs. The Red Cross is providing emergency aid as the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
🚌 Indiantown Saves Popular Shuttle with Emergency Funds
Indiantown Council voted to cover $22K in emergency funding to keep the Saturday shuttle to Stuart running. Ridership has been rising, but a surprise move by FDOT ended the existing grant. Leaders hope new state support will kick in by mid-2026.
