Itโs Monday! Weirdly enough, the sunrise today is at 7:00.
Listen, I donโt usually talk about the weather, but ever since I started writing this newsletter, Iโve been embarrassingly into it. Like, borderline weather nerd. But only Monday through Fridayโdonโt catch me trying to forecast a weekend. Ha!
Alright, letโs get to itโฆ

What You Might Have Missed

Festive Freight
๐
The Florida East Coast Railwayโs Santa Train made its annual stop in Fort Pierce this weekend, spreading Christmas joy with toys, photo ops, and holiday cheer. Families gathered eagerly as Santa stepped off the festive train to hand out gifts.
๐ This beloved tradition, which began in 2010, also supports the Marine Toys for Tots program, collecting toys for kids in need. Itโs another reminder of how our community comes together during the holidays. See the highlights and how you can support Toys for Tots here.
Sights & Sounds of the Season
๐ The 36th Annual โSights & Sounds on Secondโ Parade lit up Downtown Fort Pierce this weekend with packed streets and holiday cheer. From dazzling floats to community performers, the event showcased the heart of the cityโs holiday spirit.
โจ Thousands gathered to enjoy the show and stayed for the iconic tree lighting ceremony, turning Marina Square into a festive wonderland. And if you missed it, the Holiday Lights Spectacular on Melody Lane runs daily from 6 PM to 9 PM throughout the season.

Rainbow Groves Project Moves Forward Amid Debate
๐ฑ Whatโs Happening: The St. Lucie County Commission unanimously approved a land-use change for Rainbow Groves, a proposed 245-acre industrial and commercial redevelopment west of Port St. Lucie. Once a citrus farm, the property is being repurposed for industrial use, leveraging its rail connection to the Florida East Coast Railway.
๐ง Why Itโs Controversial: The city of Port St. Lucie and nearby residents raised concerns over traffic, lack of development agreements, and potential impacts on city-managed roads. Mayor Shannon Martin questioned why Rainbow Groves developers havenโt signed agreements similar to those of neighboring projects.
๐ Support vs. Skepticism: County commissioners, while acknowledging the cityโs concerns, defended their decision as part of a larger strategy to grow industrial development, create jobs, and reduce reliance on residential expansion. Still, the project has no tenant, leaving many detailsโlike traffic studiesโunclear.
๐ค Whatโs Next: Before moving forward, Rainbow Groves needs state approval and must present additional details to the County Commission, including specifics about future tenants. Commissioners promised to scrutinize those plans, banning hazardous materials and ensuring responsible growth.

HELP!
My friend and Head of Image at Sunland News, JโQwan, captured these amazing photos at an incredible event, Help, I Need a Midwife, over the weekend. I had the chance to film part of this weekend-long event last year, and it remains one of my favorite filming experiences to date! Iโm so grateful to have been there and to witness the event through JโQwanโs images this year.
Alrightโฆ see you next Monday!
With love,
JaโMin
