🌅🥯 PSL’s New Bagel Spot

☀️🌱 PLUS: F1 Grand Prix, MiLB game hack, and what to do this weekend around the Coast.

Good Afternoon, Sunland

It’s Tuesday! And that means it’s time for my once-a-week appreciation post. Thank you for being here, for reading, for replying, for forwarding, for just showing up. I don’t take it lightly.

Now let’s jump into today’s newsletter.

🍋 The Main Squeeze: 🏃‍♂️ Running for a Legacy

“It’s the water.”

That’s what a pizza guy in Tampa once told me when I asked why his food was so good. He leaned in like he was giving me a family secret or something. I didn’t really understand it at the time. But the pizza? It was good.

Fast forward to now and apparently, that same philosophy is driving the business model behind Brooklyn Water Bagel, which just opened two new spots right here in St. Lucie County. One in Tradition next to Publix, the other in St. Lucie West.

So what makes their bagels different? The water. The company says it uses a proprietary filtration system to mimic the composition of the water that flows through the Catskills and into Brooklyn homes. I don’t know what any of that means but they boil the bagels in it, make their coffee with it, freeze it into ice cubes. It’s in everything.

Again, it could all be marketing. But I’ll be honest, it’s working on me. I want to try one of these bagels. And I don’t even eat bagels like that.

Behind the St. Lucie West location is Dean Tendrich, former WPTV meteorologist. Yup, local media into the bagel business. He signed a 10-store deal, so we’ll be seeing more of these.

As for the menu? It goes well beyond the basics. They’ve got Reubens, sandwiches stacked with sausage, bacon, ham, egg, and cheese. They’ve even got iced coffee made with frozen coffee cubes.

🍹The Refill: Mets Check-In with Darius

Today we set off a 3-game series against the Palm Beach Cardinals at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Jupiter, Florida. We’re currently one game behind them in our division. For now, we hold a 3-3 record on the road but that can change this week. Let’s show them we coming for that number one spot! LFGM

Oh, and real quick before I go — so I subscribe to the MLB app’s At Bat Package so I can listen to Mets games (yes, I know this is 2025). Anyways, I find it to be more exciting + it’s cheaper than the MLB.TV Package.

However, what I didn’t realize until I downloaded the MiLB app (Minor League Baseball) is that apparently almost all Minor League game audio can be streamed for free courtesy of Gameday Audio.

Here’s what the website says:

MiLB presents Gameday Audio as a FREE service to baseball fans everywhere. Please note that Gameday Audio links will only be active when games are in progress, and that some teams do not stream all games. Check the MiLB schedule to confirm game times.

I’ll be trying it out today!
