Good Morning, Sunland

It’s Tuesday! and I'm super excited to keep pushing and finish out the year.

Always feel like Memorial Day starts the summer and Labor Day ends the summer. So summer's over, sadly enough, but going into September, October, which personally is my favorite time of the year. Obviously the holidays are great November, December, but something about October, man. I fell in love with last year during the newsletter in September as well, so I'm looking forward to everything that's about to happen for these two months. Alright…

🥯 Want to try: Treasure Coast Bagel Bakery. My lovely friend Jalyne told me about this place I never heard about it. I'm actually going to give it a shot by the time you're reading this as they are closed on Mondays, but they're open on Tuesdays.

🍗 Sponsored: How to be happy? Start with a $5 Stoney Bowl.

It’s Tuesday. And on Tuesdays, we get Stoney’s. Choice of meat. Two seasoned sides. All on a bed of yellow rice, served hot. $5. That’s it. Hard to find. Easy to love.

🍋 The Main Squeeze: BMX Track Will Be Run by City
Set to Open in Spring

🚴 TL;DR: The City of Port St. Lucie will officially run the new BMX facility being built at Tradition Regional Park. Council approved the move a couple weeks ago and expects the track to open by early 2026.

How We Got Here: At an Aug. 18 workshop, city leaders weighed two options: partner with a nonprofit or run the site fully in-house. After discussion, commissioners voted unanimously to move forward with a city-run model.

The BMX track is being built at the 110-acre Tradition Regional Park and is expected to open in the first quarter of 2026. City staff estimate it will bring in $221,000 annually from rentals, clinics, concessions, and merchandise. That number could grow by 20 to 30 percent each year with seven-day operations.

The city awarded the construction contract earlier this year and has already begun hiring for track operations.

What the City Will Handle:

  • Staffing (6 to 10 new hires)

  • Scheduling and maintenance

  • Clinics, rentals, and programming

  • Sponsorships and revenue operations

The city will also bring in an expert to manage the track, which is one of 300 sanctioned BMX tracks in North America. This is the only public-access BMX facility of its kind in the region.

What’s Next: Council members asked for a 60-day window to review feedback and assess business plans and staffing before the final operational launch.
