Good Morning, Sunland
It's Friday! and this is the end of Teacher Appreciation Week! And I should have said something sooner. I'm so appreciative of each and every teacher in my life. I tried to do the count this morning. I got to 17 in my immediate orbit. And I know for sure I am missing a few people. I am a direct product of the amazing teachers that do the work of educating our future community. So thank you!

🟠 Main Squeeze: St. Lucie County just approved one of the largest job creation projects in recent county history

St. Lucie County commissioners approved all four components of Project Orchid Tuesday night in a 4 to 0 vote, with Commissioner Cathy Townsend absent due to a medical issue. The project is a 1.4 million square foot advanced manufacturing facility set to bring over 1,000 jobs to North Rock Road, just north of the county jail 🏭.
Why it matters: We covered the incentives approval earlier, but Tuesday night was the land use and zoning piece, the votes that actually clear the path for the facility to be built.
The project by the numbers 💰:
👷 1,005 jobs with a median wage of $28.50 an hour, about 116% of the countywide average
💵 $53 million in total annual payroll once fully operational
🔨 $207 million one time construction economic impact
🌎 A South American manufacturer of architectural glass, windows and aluminum systems establishing its first U.S. facility here, with Miami headquarters
Worth noting: The facility operates fully enclosed with no outdoor manufacturing, no visible emissions, and sound at the property line expected to be similar to a supermarket loading area. The full incentive package including tax exemptions and job creation grants is still being finalized 👀.
What's next: Watch the full meeting here. Roadway improvements on Orange Avenue must be completed before the first certificate of occupancy is issued 📅.

🏟️ Met’s Update!

In our last three games against the Lakeland Flying Tigers we've only managed to scrape up a single win. Last night, their starting pitcher put together a dominant outing and struck our guys out 10 times. We were able to rack up 5 hits but ended up only scoring 1 run against Lakeland's 4 runs. Tonight at 6:30pm we'll be playing them again at Joker Marchant Stadium. Let's hope we even up the series! Good luck, fellas!
