Good Morning, Sunland
It's Monday and top of the month! Something I’ve been working on is finally ready to share. Every month I pick 27 events (I'm liking this 27 / 772 theme) I think are worth your time, and every week I pick another 27. You can add every one of them straight to your phone calendar here. I wanted to make it easy to plan your weekends without having to scroll through everything. You can also see the full November list here.
👀 Watchlist
The Man on 25th story we posted last week now has a beautiful film to go along with it. You can watch it here. I also have a follow-up that might blow your mind. More to come!

🟠 Main Squeeze: 3 restaurants opened, 5 closed and 1 changed hands on the Treasure Coast in October 🍽️

I do this every month so you know what is new and what is gone. Here is the October rundown.
Opened 📋:
🥩 The Blu Fin, Vero Beach. A Mediterranean fine dining restaurant at 1410 South A1A, where Charley Brown's used to be. It is led by Argentine born chef Sebastian La Rocca. The signature dish is a bourbon barrel wood smoked beef tartare with lobster bisque sauce, caviar, Wagyu tallow, quail egg yolk and rye.
🌮 Papichulo Tacos, Palm City. A taco and tequila spot from Palm Beach County, and its first Treasure Coast location at 2916 SW Mapp Road. Chef driven street style tacos including birria, gator and Baja fish.
🍷 11 Maple Street, Jensen Beach. Technically a reopening. The 41 year old fine dining restaurant closed September 26th and reopened October 29th after the chef owner called off plans to sell, at least for now.
Closed 📋:
🍖 Island Pig & Fish. The owner sold all three locations and said he is done with the industry, calling it a no win situation
🍺 House of Brews, Jensen Beach. The family owned taphouse at 3311 NW Main Ave closed September 30th after a local investor made an offer for the whole plaza that the family could not pass up. It opened in 2007 as A Picky Gourmet and became House of Brews in 2011. The owner is planning a House of Brews reunion tour of events to see customers again
🌮 Blue Agave, Vero Beach. The downtown Mexican restaurant at 1979 14th Ave, open since 2014, closed after the owners sold their liquor license. They reopened September 7th with beer and wine only, then closed again October 1st. The owners blame new competition and falling liquor sales. They are deciding whether to sell, reopen as Blue Agave or reopen as a new concept, with a decision targeted for mid November
🍀 Erin's Irish Pub at the Beach, Fort Pierce. The Sebastian pub's second location at 2025 Seaway Drive closed September 19th after less than five months. The owner cited family, finances and licensing issues. The original Sebastian pub is still open
🍮 The Peach Cobbler Factory, Tradition. The dessert chain's Port St. Lucie location closed after 18 months, leaving the Stuart location as the only one open on the Treasure Coast
Changed hands 📋:
🍳 Sunrise City Cafe, Fort Pierce. Owner Nichole Parker announced she sold the cafe a little over a month ago. The menu, the prices and the staff are all staying. The new owners also took over the Airport Tiki, which becomes Sunrise's second location. The transition there is gradual and the menu has not changed yet.
Eight more restaurants are on the way and we will cover those as they get closer 👀.
💬 What do you think is going on with restaurants right now? Is it rent, competition, the cost of everything, or are you just eating in more? Leave a voicemail at 772-212-1504 and tell me what you are seeing.
📰 Press Round: ERs, Operations & Toy Drives

🏢 Martin County Moves Forward on $73 Million Operations Facility
Martin County commissioners approved the final site plan for a $73 million operations center that will consolidate several departments currently housed in aging buildings on airport property. The 100,000-square-foot facility is built to withstand hurricane-force winds and will house about 160 employees. Commissioner Eileen Vargas cast the lone vote against it, arguing a long-term lease would have been the better option.
