🟠 Main Squeeze: A batch of new Florida laws kick in tomorrow and they touch wallets, classrooms and yard work

More than a hundred laws passed during this year's legislative session take effect July 1st, and a handful of them are worth knowing about 📋.

🚜 No more local control over leaf blowers. Cities and counties can no longer adopt or enforce ordinances restricting gas powered farm or landscape equipment. Naples and Miami Beach had both introduced restrictions citing noise and pollution concerns, but lawn care companies pushed back over the cost of switching to electric equipment.

🥁 Marching band can replace P.E. High school students can now use two years of marching band to satisfy both physical education and performing arts graduation requirements.

🐾 New protections for pet buyers. Pet sellers must now provide veterinary records, and buyers can cancel financing and return a dog or cat if the animal is found unfit for purchase due to illness.

Data center costs can't get passed to you. State utility regulators are now required to create rules keeping data centers' electric and water costs from being shifted onto everyday ratepayers.

🚢 Cruise ship restrictions near the Skyway. A new law blocks cruise ship operations near the southern end of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Manatee County.

What's next: All of this takes effect tomorrow, July 1st 📅.
