🏀 Lincoln Park Academy Honors Legendary Coach Wendell Adams

Lincoln Park Academy just finished laying its new basketball court, named in honor of legendary coach Wendell Adams. The Wendell Adams Courts celebrate his remarkable career, marked by his 500th career win earlier this year. Coach Adams has been coaching girls' basketball for over 25 years, making an immeasurable impact on the community.

LPA revealed the design of the court back in February, and now it has come to fruition. As another school year approaches, we hope to see the Greyhounds continue to strive and win on these new courts.

🏖 The Workers of Sandpiper Bay Resort Have Not Been Paid

Local destination hotspot in PSL, Sandpiper Bay, owes its workers over $5 million for labor. A couple of weeks ago, it was reported that the all-inclusive resort had not paid contractors working on renovations. Now, recent developments reveal that the funds are tied up in a legal dispute.

Carlos Garcia, one of the workers, claims he is owed $25,000 and has been protesting outside the resort for 24 days. He says the contractor in charge, Michael Garofalo of Capitol Building Group, stopped paying subcontractors. The owner of Sandpiper Bay, Keith Lee, stated that he paid Garofalo nearly $17 million, part of which should have gone to the workers.

Garofalo's attorney, Jerald Cureton, explained that there wasn't enough money from Lee to pay everyone. He filed a construction lien against Sandpiper Bay Resort, claiming the resort owes his client $9 million—$4 million for Garofalo and $5 million for the workers. However, the lien was dismissed because Capitol Building Group missed a court date.

Cureton says they were unaware of the court date and are preparing to reinstate the lien and file a lawsuit. Sandpiper Bay is also gearing up for court and has hired a new contractor, hoping to resolve the issue for the workers.
