🌅📢Tornado Aftermath in Saint Lucie
🌴 Tornadoes have caused widespread damage...
Good Morning, Sunland! It’s Thursday!
I’ve been scrolling through Facebook all morning, seeing the devastation left by the tornadoes and storm yesterday/today. They say the storm is finally moving past us, but I can still hear the wind roaring outside my house. Currently 64,000 homes are without power in Saint Lucie County. See here.
I’m forgoing the events list until tomorrow as I’m sure many changes and cancellations will be made. I also want to give space for all that’s happened.
It breaks my heart to see everything that’s happened in such a short amount of time. The Spanish Lakes area seems to have been hit the hardest, with multiple fatalities reported. An entire gas station has been destroyed. [See here.]
Further south, some of the newly constructed warehouses behind WaWa have lost their roofs, and Al's Red Barn is gone too. [See here.] There’s honestly too much to name; so much of the city and community have been affected. Reportedly, they are saying as many as 16 tornadoes came through Saint Lucie County, although this hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. Before Hurricane Milton made landfall, more than 160 tornado warnings were issued.
Writing this newsletter has been my way of connecting with all of you, and I think that connection is more important now than it’s ever been.
If you feel comfortable, I invite you to share your story or experience from yesterday and today. Are you safe? Has there been any damage to your home? For some, sharing can be a way to heal. [Share Your Story Here.]
