🏠 Main Squeeze: Habitat for Humanity Closing Both
ReStore Locations

What's happening: Habitat for Humanity St. Lucie & Okeechobee is closing both of its ReStore locations in Fort Pierce and Port St. Lucie, effective November 22, 2025.
The locations closing:
Fort Pierce ReStore: 2904 Okeechobee Road, Fort Pierce
Port St. Lucie ReStore: 10185 South US 1, Port St. Lucie
Why: "While this was not an easy decision, it allows us to focus our resources more directly on building and repairing homes for the families we serve," said Bob Calhoun, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity St. Lucie & Okeechobee.
What the ReStores provided: The stores sold gently used furniture, home improvement items, and building materials to the public at discounted prices. All proceeds supported Habitat's mission to build affordable homes and provide critical repairs for local families.
What's next: Habitat for Humanity will continue its core mission of providing affordable homeownership and critical home repair opportunities throughout St. Lucie and Okeechobee counties. The organization is encouraging community members to stay connected through donations, volunteering, and upcoming events.
How to help: Visit www.habitatslo.house or contact the Habitat office at (772) 464-1117 to learn how you can continue supporting their work. You can also support Habitat by participating in their 9th Annual "Battle of the Bags" Cornhole Tournament on November 22nd at 5 PM at St. Lucie International Airport. Team and sponsorship sign-ups are now open - call (772) 464-1117 ext. 103 for more info.
🍊 Press Round: Babies, Rubble & Parades

👶 Hospital District Approves $2M to Keep Maternity Ward Open
Indian River County's Hospital District unanimously voted to give Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital $2 million in taxpayer funding to keep its Labor and Delivery Unit open through December 2028. The agreement waives a lease clause that would have allowed the hospital to stop delivering babies if the same service became available within 25 miles, but offers no guarantees past 2028.
🏗️ Demolition Begins on Tornado-Wrecked Fort Pierce Warehouse
Crews started tearing down the 1.1 million-square-foot South Florida Logistics Center 95 on Orange Avenue, which was severely damaged by a Hurricane Milton tornado just months after construction finished. The $100 million facility's owner expects demolition to wrap by May 2026 and plans to rebuild.
🎄 Ten Holiday Parades Coming to the Treasure Coast
Christmas parades on land and lighted boat parades on the water kick off across the region starting December 5, with Stuart leading things off at 7 p.m. The full lineup includes seven traditional parades and three waterfront spectacles running through mid-December in Martin, St. Lucie, and Indian River counties.
