Space X Launched a Rocket, Then Caught It π§βππ
In a bold test flight on Sunday, SpaceX successfully used mechanical arms to catch its Starship rocket booster back at the launch pad. This marks the most ambitious test yet for the rocket. The stainless steel booster, measuring 232 feet (basically the statue of liberty), returned to the pad just seven minutes after launch and was caught by massive metal arms, dubbed "chopsticks."
Community Steps Up for Saint Lucie County in the
Aftermath of the Storm
In the wake of the devastating tornadoes and storms that have swept through Saint Lucie County, the response from local residents, businesses, and organizations has been nothing short of incredible. From providing meals to organizing relief efforts, the people of this community have come together to help rebuild and support those who have lost so much. Many have been asking where they can find help and how they can lend a hand. Below are some resources to guide you on both.
Relief Efforts at the Fenn Center
One of the major hubs of support has been the Havert L. Fenn Center in Fort Pierce. Displaced residents are being connected with state and local agencies to access essential services, such as filing insurance claims, applying for FEMA assistance, and learning how to stay safe in the aftermath of the storm. Volunteers from across the county are also stepping in, providing crucial services like translation for non-English-speaking families, and offering emotional support during this difficult time.
Volunteer and Donation Opportunities
If youβre wondering how you can help, there are several opportunities available to assist those in need:
Emergency Breakfast Volunteers Needed: Tomorrow morning, volunteers are needed at 7:30 AM to help serve breakfast in front of Walmart on Okeechobee Road in Fort Pierce. This is part of an Emergency Management Operation, and anyone interested in lending a hand should contact the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce.
Angels of Hope Outreach Ministries: David Kelly and his team are organizing volunteers to help sort and distribute donated items at 310 Indian Hills Dr., Fort Pierce. This organization has been a beacon of hope, providing essentials to those hit hardest by the storm.
Hurricane & Tornado Relief Donations: There are several locations across the county accepting donations of non-perishable food, baby items, toiletries, medical supplies, first aid kits, and more. Volunteers are also welcome to help sort and deliver these items to affected families. You can drop off donations at:
Nunuβs Sweet Soul Food, 3210 Orange Ave, Fort Pierce, FL 34947, open Thursday through Sunday, 1 PM - 4 PM.
Radiant Recharge, 466 SW PSL Blvd, Suite 114, Port St Lucie, FL 34953, open Monday to Friday, 10 AM - 2 PM.
