🟠 Main Squeeze: Fort Pierce has a new record shop on US 1 and it has been open for two months
A couple weeks ago my friend Alex mentioned it. Then someone else brought it up in a completely different conversation. Anytime I hear something twice it goes straight to the top of my list. I went to check it out 🎵.
What it is: Rock and Roll Circus is in the old arcade building on US 1 and Orange Avenue in Fort Pierce. Open about two months. The owner is Heather, who started selling records at markets around the area with a home base in Vero Beach before deciding to open a physical store. Her reason was simple: people should not have to drive to Guitar Center just to look at records.
What to expect 📋:
🎶 Specific, curated selection, not overwhelming
💿 Records sourced from everywhere, online, estates, homes for sale
🛒 She sells both in store and online
🕐 Hours: Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with expanded hours coming soon
💰 Price range varies. I got a Purple Rain in perfect condition, still in the wrapper, for $49. A Billy Ocean 7 inch for a couple dollars
What she is looking forward to: Snowbird season is right around the corner and she is expecting foot traffic to pick up. She is also watching the corridor around her closely, hoping more food spots move in nearby to bring more people to that stretch of US 1 on a regular basis.

🏛️ Fort Pierce Clears Way to Demolish Avenue D Building for Highwaymen Plaza
The Fort Pierce Redevelopment Agency cleared environmental hurdles for its $150,000 purchase of the vacant parcel at 1238 Avenue D next to the Highwaymen Museum. Phase 2 environmental testing found no additional issues. The agency plans to demolish the existing structure and create a pedestrian plaza with possible overflow parking.

🎵 Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival Pauses Again After Brief Return
The Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival is taking another hiatus after returning in March, citing rising talent and production costs that independent promoters struggle to manage. This year's event drew 30,000 people with headliners like The Lumineers and Cage The Elephant. Organizers said they'll use the time to reimagine the festival.

📈 Port St. Lucie Leads Nation in Population Growth and Moving Activity
Port St. Lucie ranked #1 fastest growing large city in the U.S. for the fifth straight year, adding 9,131 people for a 3.5 percent growth rate. The city also placed #3 nationally for moving activity in August. Over five years, the population has surged 29.6 percent as people relocate to the area for affordable housing and remote work opportunities.

🏛️ Port St. Lucie City Council meets Monday Sept. 28 – Council votes on utility rate changes (water, wastewater, reclaimed water), comprehensive plan amendments, and first reading of riverfront restaurant lease at The Port District Riverfront Park. Meeting at 6pm following 5:30pm budget hearing at City Hall. Agenda
🚫 Fort Pierce City Council has no meeting this week – Next meeting is October 5.
🚫 St. Lucie County Commission has no meeting this week – Next BOCC meeting is October 6.
