🌅🎭 Guess Who's On Stage!

☀️🌱 Local theaters light up November, food truck open house today, and rehab funds open soon! This is Sunland!

Good Morning, Sunland!

It’s Tuesday! Instead of congratulating me on hitting 2,400 subscribers (thanks for that, by the way), my brother Moe, who helps with this newsletter, casually suggested, “We should go out to the Westwood vs. Central game Friday.” So, here we are—planning to be on the sidelines with a camera in hand, capturing whatever unfolds.

We don’t have a press pass, so we’ll just be out there giving a voice to the people—quite literally, in the stands! If you see us, come say hi. We might even snap a few shots that’ll make next week’s newsletter. Who knows? Alright…

🫡 Salute: To clear up any confusion, the city has created a map showing when your debris will be collected. See it here.

🦐 Ate Local: Okay, maybe this is unfair—someone recommended Super Taquerias, but I didn’t tell them it’s already my favorite spot in town 😂. Naturally, I had to “test” it again for dinner. Order: Super Style Steak Taco, 2 pieces of chicken, and guac on the side. Total: $8.79.

Spotlight on Local Theater

What’s On Stage

Saint Lucie County has four theaters. A stat that's not really apparent, unless you were an orchestra kid like me (I always wanted to be a thespian) or one of the loyal locals who actually buy season passes. For everyone else, this might be news. So, now’s a good time to mention the four theaters we’ve got and what they’re serving up this November. Sound good? Okay, ready, set, go.

Location: 117 S 2nd St, Fort Pierce, FL
Contact: (772) 461-4775

This is the crème de la crème of local theaters. It’s got history, size, and hosts some of the best acts that come through town. Just last week, they had Taylor Swift (not the real Taylor, but a dance party, still a packed house), and this November they’re bringing in The Spinners—that’s my mom’s music, so you know it’s got some classics. Basically, there’s a little something for everyone here, from rock bands to comedy acts to holiday shows.

November Shows:

2. Pineapple Playhouse

Location: 700 W Weatherbee Rd, Fort Pierce, FL
Contact: (772) 465-0366

While I’ve never attended a show here myself, Pineapple Playhouse has been around for over 30 years—anything that lasts that long in this town is worth looking into. It’s small, intimate, and all about the community. You’ll find local talent bringing stories to life, and the vibe is low-key and welcoming.

November Show:

  • Doubt: A Parable (Nov 8-24, Friday-Sunday) - Set in a 1964 Bronx Catholic school, this one’s all about moral dilemmas, authority, and lots of dramatic tension. If you’re into thought-provoking plays, this is it.

3. McAlpin Fine Arts Center (IRSC)

Location: 3209 Virginia Ave, Fort Pierce, FL
Contact: (772) 462-4750

IRSC’s McAlpin Fine Arts Center is a sneaky one—it’s part of a college, so it doesn’t exactly jump out when you think of local theaters. But, they’ve got a pretty robust drama program and all the resources needed to put on shows year-round. It’s a solid spot for catching student talent and some surprisingly good productions.

November Show:

  • Jekyll & Hyde - The Musical

    • Oct 31, 7:00 PM

    • Nov 1, 7:00 PM

    • Nov 2, 2:00 PM

    • Nov 3, 2:00 PM
It’s the classic tale of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, with all the suspense, drama, and live music you’d expect—definitely worth checking out.

4. Treasure Coast Theatre

Location: 10175 S US Highway 1, Port St. Lucie, FL
Contact: (772) 418-2439

This one doesn’t exactly jump out when you think of local theaters, but it’s here, tucked away along US 1. It’s got a smaller, 54-seat setup that feels more like a black box theater, but hey, it’s still a legit stage. The vibe is intimate—think up-close performances, where you’re basically part of the action.

November Show:

  • The Hallelujah Girls (Nov 8-24, Friday-Sunday) - A group of friends turn an old church into a day-spa, leading to plenty of laughs and maybe even a few life lessons. It’s light, it’s funny, and there’s no bad seat in the house.

Last Words

So, there you have it—four local theaters, each with its own vibe and plenty of live performances this November. If you’re looking to trade your TV for a ticket, these shows are a good start.
