Good Morning, Sunland
It's Monday! and I'm back! I went on a trip over the weekend, but I came back bearing gifts.
Whenever I have idle time on my hands I just start building things. I personally got tired of not having a decent food guide. So I made one.. There are so many different TikTok and Instagram pages popping up reviewing local restaurants and whatnot. I made a database of all of these. It's still growing and still evolving, but there are over 230 spots in there right now. Check it out here Now, if you've been here long enough, you know I've attempted this in the past, but I just took a much simpler approach this time.
🚤 WATCH: Boat caught fire at Marina Square over the weekend. Luckily nobody was hurt and no nearby vessels were damaged. Watch the report.

🟠 Main Squeeze: Treasure Coast homeless count is up, but the numbers raise more questions than answers

The Treasure Coast Homeless Services Council released its annual point in time count this week showing 574 people experiencing homelessness across Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties, up 9% from last year 📊.
Why it matters: The point in time count is a federally mandated snapshot conducted every January where volunteers physically search bus stops, wooded areas and under bridges to count people sleeping outside or in shelters on a single night. The number determines how much federal funding the region receives for homeless services.
The numbers by county 📋:
🔴 Martin County: 212 people, up 8%
🟢 St. Lucie County: 164 people, down 6%
🟡 Indian River County: 198 people, unchanged
Where it gets complicated 🤔: St. Lucie County's count shows 164 people, but St. Lucie County schools have 2,772 children registered as homeless under a broader federal definition that includes kids in hotels, cars and doubled up with relatives. Those children are not captured in the point in time number, and that is just the children.
Rayme Nuckles, CEO of the Treasure Coast Homeless Services Council, said it directly: "Those numbers don't reflect the number of people we serve all year round on the Treasure Coast." A more comprehensive report including school district data is expected within the next month.

✈️ Developer Pitches $20 Million Vero Airport Terminal Without Tax Hike
Diversified Realty of Deerfield Beach proposed building a 20,000 square foot terminal and 900 space parking lot at Vero Beach airport without requiring the city to raise taxes or borrow money, instead funding construction and leasing it back to the city. City officials say the plan is risky if airlines pull out and they don't want to sell federally funded hangars to a private entity as the proposal requests.
