🛒 Port St. Lucie Costco Numbers
Port St. Lucie city leaders will meet today at noon to consider a $6 million land deal that would bring Costco Wholesale to Southern Grove.
The details:
Purchase price: $6 million for about 23 acres ($6 per square foot)
Deposit: $300,000
What Costco's building: 170,000 square foot store with gas station, pharmacy, tire center, car wash, and all the usual Costco amenities
Location: Southeast corner of SW Village Parkway and Marshall Parkway, right next to the Costco distribution center opening this month
What the city's providing:
Extension of Marshall Parkway to the site
Confirmation that water, sewer, and utilities are available
About 40,000 cubic yards of fill dirt for grading
The catch: The city is adding restrictive covenants on land within a one mile radius, meaning it can't sell nearby property to competing businesses like Sam's Club, BJ's, Walmart, grocery stores, or gas stations.
How it works: The Governmental Finance Corporation, a nonprofit made up of all five City Council members, will vote on the purchase agreement.
The timeline: Costco gets 90 days to inspect the property, then 270 days to get development approvals before closing.
The big picture: Palm Beach County already has four Costco stores. The distribution center opening this month is expected to employ more than 500 people.

🏖️ Vero Beach Is the Hamptons of Florida
The Boston Globe and Southern Living think so. Vero Beach tourism keeps growing while the rest of the country sees visitors dropping off, with bed tax revenue up 18.8 percent in 2025 and the first quarter of this fiscal year up 13 percent. Nearly half of visitors are between 25 and 47 years old making over $100,000, coming mostly from New York, Miami, Orlando, D.C. and Boston.

🛒 Port St. Lucie Leaders Meeting Today on Costco
Port St. Lucie leaders are meeting today on whether we will get a Costco or not. The city is considering selling 22.8 acres to Costco for a 170,000 square foot store and gas station in Southern Grove near the distribution center opening this month, with the city saying a Costco retail store has been residents' top request for years.
