Call For A Free Quote🟠 Main Squeeze: Nick Mimms guilty on one count, not guilty on the other

A jury found former Fort Pierce city manager Nick Mimms guilty of official misconduct, a third degree felony, on Thursday. He was found not guilty on the bid tampering charge 🏛️.
The case centered on a city process involving two vacant lots next to the Lincoln Theater on Avenue D. A nonprofit called Lincoln Park Young Professionals was awarded a lease for those lots and later received a $500,000 grant from a Catholic charity to build a community center. Nothing was built. Two people on that nonprofit’s board were city employees, one of them being Mimms’ niece.
Mimms maintained throughout the process and during a recorded 2024 interview with investigators that he did not steer the bid. He did not testify at trial. His attorney argued he committed no crime and asked the jury to restore his good name.
The jury began deliberating October 7th and reached a verdict the following afternoon. Mimms left court without commenting. The judge denied a request to take him into custody before sentencing.
What’s next 📋:
⚖️ Mimms faces up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine
📅 Sentencing is scheduled for December 11th at the St. Lucie County Courthouse
📋 A pre-sentencing investigation has been granted

🏥 Indian River County Weighs Height Exemption for Proposed Third Hospital
A potential 260,000-square-foot hospital near SR 60 and 66th Avenue needs county approval for a five-story height exemption. Current zoning limits the area to three stories. Project advocates point to emergency response times and eastern county hospital capacity as reasons the facility would serve community needs. No formal application has been submitted yet.
