🎹 The Band Behind Your Favorite Billy Joel Hits Is Coming To Fort Pierce

Legends of the Billy Joel Band: The Lords of 52nd Street played on classics like Only The Good Die Young and Just The Way You Are, and they're bringing that sound to the Sunrise Theatre. When Beatles producer George Martin wanted studio musicians instead, Billy Joel turned him down with "Love me. Love my band," and this is that band. Tickets go on sale October 16 at SunriseTheatre.com or at the Box Office.

🟠 Main Squeeze: Causeway Cove supposed to start this year.
Now it won't finish until 2039.

Two things happened at the October 14th commission meeting that are worth knowing about 👀.

First: The legal review is dead

Back in September the commission voted to send the Causeway Cove approval to outside legal counsel for review. The city reached out to three law firms. One responded. Gray Robinson told the city not to bother, saying the questions at the heart of this are planning judgments, not legal ones. An attorney cannot evaluate them. A certified planner would have to.

The city has a certified planner on staff. That is the planning director. No planner review has been announced. The September directive effectively went nowhere.

Second: The developer extended the timeline using a hurricane declaration

The developer, G Flash GP Inc., used a Florida statute that allows development permits to be extended when a governor's emergency declaration is active. They cited Hurricane Milton and a February 2026 winter weather emergency. The governor's order was still active. The planning department approved the extension administratively. No commission vote was required.

The new timeline 📋:

  • 📅 Phase one: pushed to Q4 2030

  • 📅 Each phase after that: four additional years

  • 📅 Final phase: Q1 2039

The original timeline had construction starting before the end of 2026 with final completion in 2035. That is now gone.

One commissioner asked whether a future legislative fix to the Live Local Act could apply to the project. The city attorney said no. Whatever law was in place when the project was originally approved is the law it is locked to forever.

We are going to keep watching this one 👀.

🎨 Vero Beach Museum of Art Moves Core Staff to A1A Building

The museum leased a 6,000-square-foot building at 1716 A1A in Riomar and will move about 25 administrative employees there in February while its $126 million expansion is underway. Spring art classes will resume at the satellite location on March 1, though class sizes will be smaller. The expansion is expected to finish in fall 2028, and the museum has raised $119 million toward its $126 million goal.

🚀 Why SpaceX Rocket Plumes Look Like Jellyfish

Anyone who has watched a SpaceX launch at dawn or dusk has probably seen the glowing jellyfish shape in the sky. Jon Bell, an astronomy professor and planetarium director at IRSC, says the effect comes from ice crystals forming as the exhaust hits the cold air, similar to contrails from jets.

🏛️ Indiantown Passes Development Transparency Policy

The Indiantown Village Council unanimously approved a policy creating a public registry and notification system for development applications. Residents can subscribe to alerts when new applications or pre-application meetings come in.
