🟠 Main Squeeze: Avenue D is getting a major road improvement

The City of Fort Pierce is breaking ground Monday, June 1st at 1:00 p.m. on the Avenue D Road Improvement Project, a 1.6 mile corridor upgrade running from 29th Street to U.S. 1 through the Lincoln Park neighborhood .

What the project includes 📋:

  • 🚧 Full resurfacing of Avenue D from 29th Street to U.S. 1

  • ♿ Reconstruction of ADA compliant ramps

  • 🚶 Sidewalk and driveway improvements

  • 🚦 New vehicle detection systems at signalized intersections to improve traffic flow

  • 🚸 Enhanced pedestrian crosswalks and updated signage

  • 🏙️ A new overhead gateway sign welcoming residents and visitors to the historic Lincoln Park neighborhood

How it is funded 💰:

  • $1.5 million in state legislative funding

  • $1.5 million from the Fort Pierce Redevelopment Agency

  • Local Infrastructure Surtax funding

Worth noting: This is described as the first in a broader series of planned investments in Lincoln Park, coming on the heels of the recent grand opening of the City of Fort Pierce Highwaymen Museum and the ongoing Lincoln Park Master Plan process. Construction is expected to be substantially complete by the end of November 2026, with the gateway sign installation extending slightly beyond that timeline 👀.

Groundbreaking details 📅: Monday June 1st at 1:00 p.m. at 1217 Avenue D in Fort Pierce. Additional parking at 1234 Avenue D.

🧹 Press Round: Pavement, Wholesale & Lawsuits

🛣️ Vero Beach Roads Show First Improvement in Nearly 20 Years

Vero Beach recorded a two point increase in its pavement condition index, marking the first time in almost 20 years the city's overall road conditions improved rather than declined. City engineer Danessa Chambers told the City Council that many of the city's roadways are now graded as fair condition, with the improvement coming after the city spent 64 percent of its road budget on pavement preservation last year.

⚖️ Martin County Residents Sue FPL Over Indiantown Data Center Project

Greater Indiantown Community Alliance and four Martin County residents filed a lawsuit May 25 seeking to invalidate the Village Council's April 30 approval of Tesoro Groves, a 5,722 acre FPL-owned property that could allow data centers and light industrial projects. The complaint alleges the annexation constitutes illegal spot zoning and would threaten the village's rural character through increased traffic, noise and light pollution.

🧢🍊 Mets Update: What We Posted This Week

Our guys in the blue and orange have been on the road battling the Bradenton Marauders for the past three days and so far we've picked up two wins 💪🏽

We took last night's game with a final score of 3-1.

Branny De Oleo and Jamari Baylor were responsible for those runs as they both homered in the 2nd inning.

Jose Chirinos had a wonderful outing. He held the squad down for 6 innings by striking out 9 and only allowing 3 hits. Talk to him nice! 😮‍💨

Congrats on the win, fellas! We'll be continuing this series for the next 3 days ⚾️ LGM!

Sidenote: We are now 7-3 in our last 10 games 🙂‍↕️
