🌅🏄‍♂️ $600M surf park

☀️🌱 PLUS: Student-led art, Starbucks on Cashmere, 772Eats.com launches, and a surf park rises.

Good Afternoon, Sunland

It’s Tuesday! I spend a lot of time driving around—which means I also spend a lot of time sitting at stoplights (😭). And one thing I always notice? Those painted utility boxes. I’ve never seen one that wasn’t interesting.

Well, turns out there’s an open call for artists right now in Port St. Lucie to design new ones. Anyone can apply (yes, even you), and the deadline is April 7. 🎨 Submit your design here. Alright…

🗣 Survey Says: St. Lucie Schools wants feedback from parents—it’s quick and actually helps shape what comes next. 📋 Take the Family Survey

🍽 I got tired of esting fast food and digging for local restaurants So I built 772Eats.com—a clean, no-fluff list of local restaurants (no chains). You can search, filter, and even keep notes on spots you’ve tried. I’d love your feedback if you check it out! 🔗 Explore 772Eats.com.

🎭 The Main Squeeze
A Local Stage, A Big Story

So I want to tell you about this show I saw last week—but also the school behind it.

Let’s talk about Lindsay School of the Arts. I first heard of LSA a couple years ago when my friend Kay invited me to an art showcase there. It was simple, but special—artwork from students lining the walls, families walking the halls, and an energy that just made you pause. Ever since, I’ve kept my eye on what they’re doing.

Fast forward to this month—I was at Cool Beans Brew, my favorite coffee shop in Fort Pierce (hands down), and I kept seeing these posters for a student-led show called “On My Own.” Turns out, the team at Lindsay had been working on this musical since last summer, and everything—from the story, to the choreography, to the music—was created by the students themselves.

That alone is impressive. But what really struck me was the space.

LSA recently moved from their cozy Orange Ave location (yes, the one with the peacocks crossing the road) to a bigger building on Avenue A, where they’ve built out a full black box theater and designed a real arts campus from the ground up.

💬 Why It Matters: These kids aren’t just learning about art—they’re creating it, producing it, and putting it on stage. The show was emotional, intense, and reflective of what young people are really thinking about today. It’s hard to put into words, but the message from the show has stuck with me (no spoilers incase they put it on again).

🎟️ If you ever see an event, showcase, or open mic hosted by LSA—go.📍And shoutout to Cool Beans for always being a creative hub in the heart of Fort Pierce.

This is the kind of local magic worth supporting.

A Surf Park Rises on Midway Road 💸

I heard a phrase once: “If you live long enough, you live twice.” That feels true for this one.

If you’ve been around since 2020, you probably remember whispers of a surf park coming to Fort Pierce. It sounded big, maybe too big. But now—out past the cattle fields on Midway Road—it looks like it’s really happening.

🏄🏻 Catch Up Quick: Koa Bay, a nearly $600 million surf park community, is officially underway. Set across 204 acres, the project promises 450 waves an hour, 1,100 homes, hotels, shops, yoga studios, co-working spaces, and even the world’s first floating surf pool.

Developers say the surf lagoon will offer real waves up to 7 feet tall, with zones for beginners and experienced surfers. The site is still largely hidden by tree coverage, but officials confirm that ground has been broken.

The project was approved by Fort Pierce commissioners in 2022. It’s expected to bring jobs, tourism, and new housing to the area.

💰 The Cost: Sessions are expected to cost $80, with residential memberships starting at $11,250 plus a $45,000 initiation fee.

Construction is ongoing, with residential phases expected to wrap by the end of 2026.

What do you think? Is this needed here in the County?
