🌅📍 40 People Move to PSL Every Day

☀️🌱 PLUS: A residency dispute just got serious. Also: festival returns, glow-in-the-dark egg hunts, and a photo I love.

Good Morning, Sunland

It’s Monday! Over the weekend, something kept happening that made me pause. I was in Tradition on Saturday, just stepping out of Wawa, when someone asked if I was from around here. They were looking for the TJ Maxx. Later that same day in St. Lucie West, another person asked me for directions. Then Sunday, in downtown Fort Pierce, it happened again.

It made me laugh a little, but also made me realize just how many new people are in town.

So I looked it up. About 40 new people move to Port St. Lucie every single day. That’s wild.

I don’t always know how to feel about it. Some days the traffic drives me up a wall, especially in St. Lucie West. But it’s also nice to see the city growing. Whether you’re excited about it or a little unsure, one thing’s clear. This place is changing. Alright…

👀 Caught My Eye: So I was reading an article on WPTV and didn’t realize there’s actually a form you can fill out if you want to request street lights from FPL. Didn’t know this was a thing, here it is: 🔗 Request a Street Light from FPL

🍋 The Main Squeeze: Residency Debate Shakes Up the Commission

Here’s the short version. A resident stood up at the April 8 County Commission meeting and accused Commissioner Erin Lowry of not living in the district she was elected to represent. The word “perjury” was used. And now it’s starting to pick up steam.

We mentioned this last week in The Press Round, but Hometown News dropped a full piece that dives deeper. Shoutout to them for staying on it. Here’s what’s going on:

Port St. Lucie resident Joe Edge says Lowry was living in District 4 when she took office in November, even though she was elected to serve District 3. He even hired a private investigator to follow her home on Election Day and on the day she was sworn in. He’s since filed complaints with both the Florida Ethics Commission and the Florida Elections Commission.

Lowry didn’t respond during the meeting but later told Hometown News the complaint had been closed by the Sheriff’s Office. She denied the claims, called Edge a “known stalker,” and said she has legal representation.

📜 What the rules say: In Florida, you have to live in the district you want to represent by Election Day. Not when you file to run. But if you sign official paperwork saying you live somewhere and you don’t, that’s where potential legal questions can come in.

👀 Why It Matters: Questions like these come up from time to time, and they’re part of how local systems are tested and reviewed. With residents more engaged in how things work behind the scenes, it’s a chance to better understand how requirements, qualifications, and public accountability are handled at the county level.

🍊 Press Round: Waves, Worries & Welcome Backs

📸 No, the Surf Pool Hasn’t Broken Ground

Drone footage confirmed it, Koa Bay’s Wavegarden surf park in Fort Pierce is still a cow pasture. No construction. No waves. Yet.

🎶 Too Loud or Just Right?

Stuart commissioners are reviewing noise rules, and musicians are worried. Some residents want the volume turned down. Public meeting’s today, April 14.

🎸 Okee’s Coming Back

After a two-year pause, Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival returns March 2026. Expect weirdness, wild sets, and a throwback to its roots.
