🎯 Indian River County Featured in $2,000 Jeopardy Question

Indian River County was the answer to a $2,000 Jeopardy question on the May 14 episode in the "good hang" category about grapefruit with high sugar levels and tangy acidity. None of the three contestants answered the question correctly, even though the Treasure Coast once grew 70 percent of the world's grapefruit.

⛵ $16 Million Yacht Damaged in Hurricane Wilma Sinks in Fort Pierce

The 158 foot yacht Legacy, built in 1995 for Peter Halmos and damaged in Hurricane Wilma in 2005, sank in the Port of Fort Pierce in front of Derecktor Shipyards where it has been moored since summer 2022. Sea Tow Fort Pierce refloated the vessel last week after crews pumped water out of the hull.

⚾ Stuart Ballpark Referendum Initiative Fails

A Stuart city charter amendment initiated by former Mayor Christopher Collins to require voter referendum for any sale or long term lease of Sailfish and Guy Davis park ballfields failed to survive first reading May 11. The motion failed 2 to 2 with commissioners Clarke and Rich dissenting, partly because Collins left to seek a County Commission seat.
